The Congress disciplinary committee will meet late on Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning under the chairmanship of former Kerala chief minister A K Antony to decide on the course of action against tainted party leader K Natwar Singh.
Natwar had moved a privilege motion in Parliament against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after the contents of the enquiry report were leaked to the media even as Justice Pathak, who headed the enquiry, was submitting the report to Dr Singh.
A senior congress leader said the party had taken serious note of the former external affairs minister's comments and the manner in which he has been going around seeking the support of opposition parties.
"He has made his stand through television interviews," Abhishek Singhvi said.
Natwar may either be issued a show cause notice or directly be expelled from the party.
Sonia Gandhi, who is in Kanpur, will return to Delhi and guide the three member disciplinary committee.
Antony will arrive in New Delhi late on Tuesday night.
