The sleuths questioned last night the friends of the two girls, including those whose calls were received or were called by the duo before entering the Prime Minister's residence on Thursday last, police sources said here.
Extensive questioning of two friends of the duo was done to ascertain and verify the facts and statements given by Yogita and Veena, they said adding the father of one of the two girls was also being questioned.
Doubts were raised whether the Standard Operation Procedures had been followed by the elite Special Protection Guard protecting the VVIP when the car was allowed up to the gate inside and making a delayed call to the Police Control Room of Delhi Police with instructions to intercept the car.
Senior police officials did not rule out the possibility of some sting operation or a "dry run" for it. An officer of Deputy Superintendent rank with the SPG, who was on guard duty at the front gate, has been shifted to the back office and any action was expected only after the return of SPG Director B V Wanchu who was away on tour.
The trio were booked for criminal trespassing and impersonation and later granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 25,000 each and a surety of like amount.
