Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan on Friday underwent a CT scan to assess the injuries even as the blood pressure medication and ventilation support being administered to him went up "marginally" and he remained "critical".

"A CT scan was done to assess the injury to Mahajan and also to assess any collection in his body. The CT scan showed that the injuries are same as were assessed during surgery and managed. One bullet was located in the muscle of the back (left paraspinal muscle L2), one in the subtutaneous tissue of the back and the third bullet in the body of T12 vertebra, but it has not crossed to spinal canal," director (administration), Hinduja Hospital, Anupam Verma, told reporters in Mumbai.

"Over the night, his requirement of blood pressure support drugs and ventilation have marginally gone up. The remaining treatment continues to be the same. He is still critical," Verma said.

Asked whether the bullets lodged in Mahajan's body were affecting the spine, Verma said the bullets did not have adverse effect on the body and were not of immediate concern.

The other injuries of the liver and pancreas corelate to the earlier noted findings of the operation, he said adding, there is fluid in the left side of the chest which is being drained by an intercostal drain being put by Dr G B Devar and his team.
