Meerut: Consumed by fire

The fire was so devastating that it took fire brigade personnel several hours to control the flames.

At least 200 people were injured or trampled as giant exhibition tents went up in flames. The visibly shocked witnesses described horrific scenes, with screaming and injured people coming out of the tents, whie rescuers pulled out corpse after corpse.

Officials said that atleast 22 ambulances ferried the injured to hospitals in the area.
