Amma came, saw and conquered

It was six in the evening, and there was still no sign of Jayalalitha. All those who had surrounded me also had gone as they had nothing more to say, and my notepad had no pages left.

It was 6.10 pm and the sun was slowly fading away. Suddenly, there was a loud roar from the multitude. Yes, Amma had arrived. All the women rushed to the road. Amma parked her air-conditioned vehicle in front of the temple, prayed to the deity there and started her first speech of this election campaign with the spotlight properly focussed on her. She looked calm and composed and smiled as she spoke. Instead of attacking the DMK-led opposition front, she started reeling out the welfare measures started by her government.
