Amma came, saw and conquered

Shanthi, who works as a hairdresser in the Tamil film industry, was one of the more aggressive women in the group. She has been an AIADMK member for the last 10 years. "It is only after Amma came to power that women in Tamil Nadu have become so courageous, confident and outspoken. I go to the interiors of Tamil Nadu all alone but nobody troubles me. Rowdies are scared to touch us because Amma is ruling the state. Even the police are very helpful. They know if they misbehave with women, they will be punished. Today, if you see so many women assembled here, it is because of the courage she has given us. At home also, husbands don't ill-treat their wives. They are scared. It's all because of Amma."

But she feels the situation can improve in villages where she finds the roads are not really good. Not only roads, even the bus drivers and conductors when they reach the villages act arrogant. "Amma will take care of them also once she comes back to power."
