The students will be funded under the 'Partnerships for Learning Undergraduate Studies' programme for two-year courses at select American colleges and universities. The programme is specially targeted at students who belong to disadvantaged socio-economic communities but can demonstrate academic excellence, requisite proficiency in English, leadership qualities and an aptitude for educational and cultural exchanges, a statement from the US embassy said in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Students have to apply by October 4, 2005 and the names of selected candidates will be declared in February 2006, it said. This will be the second batch of Indian students to be selected under the PLUS programme.
