Rashtriya Janata Dal member of Parliament from Siwan Mohammad Shahabuddin's name was on Tuesday deleted from the voters list by the district administration.

Siwan SDO Abul Hasan said the move is according to the Election Commission's directive to delete names of those against whom non-bailable warrants are pending for six months or more.

The EC directive is to delete names of those who are not living at their registered address of residence for more than six months.

Such persons are not considered residents of the constituency.

He said with registration of names in the list being a continuous process, Shahabuddin's name could be included in case he turns up before the last date of filing nomination for Siwan, which goes to polls in the fourth and final phase on November 19.

District Magistrate of Siwan Santosh Kumar Mal on October 6 externed Shahabuddin from Siwan till December 20 in connection with a case relating to application of Bihar Crime Control Act.

Shahabuddin was externed from the district for the second time this year.

Earlier in February, the then Siwan DM C K Anil had barred him from entering the district for six months under CCA.

Saran Division Commissioner C Lal Sota quashed the order in May.
