Jammu and Kashmir Bank on Saturday said it would work out a financial package for the quake hit areas of Jammu and Kashmir and keep its branches in Uri, Kupwara and Baramulla open on Sunday to facilitate banking operations for the people.

"We are told that the death toll is between 100 and 150. We will start langars to provide free food for people in the quake-hit areas from tomorrow (Sunday) and work out a financial package at lower interest for those effected by the earthquake," chairman and managing director of the bank Haseeb Drabu told PTI.

He said Uri, Kupwara and Baramulla were the worst-hit areas and all efforts would be made to provide rehabilitation measures by the bank. He said the bank would also function till late hours on Saturday in these areas.

While the first stage of assistance would come in the form of providing essential relief operations, in the second stage the bank would work out financial packages for rehabilitation of the quake hit areas, Drabu said.

He said the executive director of the bank would coordinate the relief measures in the three areas.
