Dismissing allegations against him in the Volcker Committee report, Andaleep Sehgal, Director of Hamdaan Exports, on Sunday said that he had never misused the name of the Congress party or External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh in any business deal.
"All allegations against me are untrue. I never misused the name of the party or Natwar," he said in an interview to a private television channel.
Sehgal, a close friend of Natwar's son Jagat Singh, claimed that the Volcker Committee had never contacted him nor did he receive any notification from the UN panel.
He also alleged that the Enforcement Directorate had targetted him on the basis of the false propaganda against him.
On the charges in the Volcker Committee report that money transactions had been made on his behalf with the Jordan National Bank on at least four occasions, Sehgal said he had been in India on all the four dates mentioned in the report.
"My passport is available for verification," he said, adding that he was also trying to ascertain facts about these transactions.
Official sources said Andaleep was questioned since the report had named him and his company as conduits through which money was routed to the erstwhile Saddam Hussein regime on behalf of the Swiss company Masefield.
According to the report, Masefield had lifted almost half the four million barrels of Iraqi oil to which Natwar had obtained rights.
