Lok Janshakti Party's dissolved Bihar unit president, Narendra Singh, on Monday said his party's dissident legislators will break away from the LJP and merge with a 'suitable party'.

Criticising the Centre for dissolving the state assembly under pressure from LJP president Ram Vilas Paswan, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad Yadav and the Congress, Singh told reporters that the dissolution of the House was a 'murder of democracy'.

"The Constitution doesn't prevent any party or MLA from cobbling together a majority to install a popular government," he said.

Stating that the House was dissolved 'in undue haste', he said, "An attempt has been made by the United Progressive Alliance to throttle democracy and trample its opponents by hook or by crook. The Constitution doesn't permit it."

He said the UPA was acting like, "a dictator, like the one in Pakistan. It is an ominous sign for Constitution and democracy in India."

Launching a scathing attack on his party president Ram Vilas Paswan for "showing disrespect to the people's verdict, which was in favour of anti-RJD forces," he said, "The people of the state will not forgive Paswan for his adamant stand on the issue of government formation."

"Paswan, who had once said he would not have any pact with the RJD in his life-time, later compromised on it and offered to align with Lalu Prasad," Singh said alleging that Paswan had taken for granted the support of his MLAs who had won the elections on an anti-RJD stance.

"I am sure that Paswan will take action and expel the rebel MLAs and me from the party for revolting against him. We are left with no option other than breaking away from the LJP, which is the fiefdom of Paswan, and consider launching a new party or merging with a suitable party," Singh said.
