The Centre informed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday about the violation of airspace by Dhaka, observing that it was the sixth violation over the last three years.

On April 22, an unidentified helicopter entered into the Chotakhil area in Tripura from Bangladesh, violating the Indian airspace, Minister of State for Home S Regupathy said during Question Hour.

He added that a protest note was lodged with the Bangaldesh Rifles for violation.

The Indian Air Force was also informed about the violation, Regupathy said.

Besides deciding to handover after verification persons who inadvertently crossed over, they also agreed to prevent damage to boundary pillars, carry out practice firing away from zero line and coordinating efforts to check trans-border crime, he added.

The minister added that the Border Security Force had met the Pakistani Rangers in Karachi last month and agreed to maintain peace on the border.
