The alleged kingpin of the tiger-poaching racket in Sariska, wanted in several cases of violation of Wildlife Protection Act has surrendered, a senior official said on Friday.
Jhoru Mev, a resident of Alwar, surrendered to the security personnel of the Rajasthan Wildlife and forest department in Akbarpur range of the Sariska sanctuary in Alwar district on Thursday, Chief Wildlife Warden R N mehrotra told PTI in Jaipur.
Jhoru, who confessed his involvement during the preliminary interrogation by forest cops and senior officers, was allegedly involved in the wildlife poaching cases at
Narandi, Rautkela and Harswal Pandupole areas in the sanctuary, Mehrotra said.
Jhoru would be handed over to police after completing the interrogation, he said.
With Johru's surrender, the state forest and wildlife department has arrested three of the four prime accused in the missing tigers cases at Sariska, he claimed.
While, two accused have been arrested, the fourth accused Kalya Bawaria was still at large, Mehrotra said.
Meanwhile, seven officials of the Sariska sanctuary have been transferred.
Mehtrotra also said the fresh tiger census at the Sariska was completed last week but the findings are yet to be released by the state government.
