The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Tuesday declined to comment on Bharatiya Janata Party chief Lal Kishenchand Advani's resignation from the party president's post.
"We have nothing to do with today's development. It is an internal matter of the party," RSS spokesman Ram Madhav said in New Delhi.

Advani's resignation followed sharp criticism by RSS and its allied bodies of his statement in Pakistan praising Mohammed Ali Jinnah.
Madhav denied that any sort of pressure was applied by the Sangh Parivar on Advani to resign. "The BJP will take an appropriate decision at an appropriate time. We do not want to get involved," he said.

He did not give a clear answer when asked whether the RSS will ask Advani to reconsider his decision.
Madhav, however, said the RSS was "not in agreement with the sentiments expressed [by Advani on Jinnah]. The debate on the issue is over."
