A case was filed in an Indore court on Thursday against Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife and Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi for allegedly dishonouring the national anthem.

A social outfit, Tiranga Abhiyan, filed the case on the basis of a photograph of the couple published in a daily on January 5, 2005, showing them sitting during a function in Bihar, presumably on Republic Day in 2003, when the anthem was being sung.

The caption read: 'Persons occupying high posts had no respect for the national anthem.'

A complaint in this regard was filed under section 3 of the Prevention of Insult to the National Honour Act, 1971, by the Abhiyan convenor and Economic offences Wing Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ravi Atrolia.

Subsequently, a case was filed in the court of First Class Judicial Magistrate Narendra Jain.

The court has fixed January 24 for recording the statement of the complainant.
