The management committee of a mosque near the Patna high court has decided not to use loudspeakers for azaan (muezzin's prayer call between 1300 IST and 1600 IST everyday) after the HC objected to it.

The HC had earlier issued an order to stop the use of loudspeakers. On Friday, Justice R S Garg had complained that the loudspeakers annoyed him while he hearing a case.

The mosque adjoins the court premises.

Police took into custody the muezzin for violating the court order. He was taken to court and later released. This evoked protests from Muslims, some of whom dubbed Justice Garg as Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh man.

But Justice Garg pointed out that the mosque had violated an HC order. He later told newspersons that it deeply hurt his feelings and he would seek transfer outside Bihar.
