Anura Bandaranaike, brother of President Chandrika Kumaratunga, was named Sri Lanka's new foreign minister on Monday.
He replaces Lakshman Kadirgamar, who was assassinated 10 days ago.

Bandaranaike, 56, would continue to hold the Tourism portfolio, a spokesman of the President said.
The investment promotion and industries portfolios, that he held before, were given to Finance Minister Sarath Amunugama, the official added.
Bandaranaike is tightly guarded as he is considered a target of Tamil tiger rebels. Kadirgamar was killed in a suspected rebel attack on August 12.
