Decks were cleared for tabling the report of the Justice Nanavati Commission, which probed the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, with the union cabinet clearing the Action Taken Report .

The report will be submitted along with the ATR in Parliament during the current monsoon session, Information and Broadcasting Minister S Jaipal Reddy told reporters after a cabinet meeting, which was chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance has been demanding the tabling of the report since the budget session and has threatened to disrupt proceedings in Parliament if the government failed to present the report by Friday.

Justice G T Nanavati had presented his report to Home Minister Shivraj Patil on February 9 this year. As per the statutory requirement, the government has to place the Commission's report in Parliament within six months, the last date being August 8.
