The lineman whose error is said to have caused Thursday's train collision involving the Sabarmati Express at Samlaya in Gujarat, killing 17 people and leaving over 120 injured, presented himself before the authorities on Friday.

Superintendent of Police Anoop Singh Gehlot told PTI that his statement would be recorded later in the day.

Rescue and relief operations at the accident site are over and the railway track has been opened for two-way traffic.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party has appointed a team, led by Sushil Kumar Modi, to look into the circumstances that led to the attack on Lalu Prasad Yadav's convoy.

Yadav had alleged that Narendra Modi was responsible for the attack on him.

The BJP team will meet the injured at hospital in Vadodara.

City Police Commissioner Deepak Swarup told PTI that Yadav was provided 'Z plus' security during his visit to the hospital on Thursday, when his car was stoned by suspected Bajrang Dal and BJP workers.
