Artist Sudarsan Patnaik is crafting 21 faces of Lord Ganesh on the beach of his hometown, Puri, in Orissa to mark the beginning of the annual Ganesh Chaturthi festivities.

Patnaik is a renowned sand sculptor who has won several awards in India and abroad. He is crafting the images of the elephant headed god with the help of students of his Golden Sand Art Institute.

He expects to complete all the images by Friday night. The festival begins on Saturday.

The images would be open to the public for three days, Patnaik told rediff.com
