However, none of the 35 shells discovered in the three trucks that arrived at the factory on Tuesday were live, Ghaziabad SP Umesh Shrivastava said.
"The shells have been handed over to the army, which has taken them to a secluded spot on the banks of Yamuna river near Loni to be destroyed," Shrivastava said. The shells will be destroyed along with nearly 100 other shells recovered over the past few weeks in the district.
The recovery of the shells follows an explosion at the factory on Tuesday and recovery of six more live munitions by the army and the police.
On September 30, ten people were killed when rocket shells exploded in the metal scrapyard in the factory leading to the recovery of 300 abandoned explosives.
