An executive engineer of the Public Works Department allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the top floor of the
Police Headquarters in New Delhi.

The body of Moti Lal, 56, was found at around 0430 IST, Deputy Commissioner of Police (central) M M Oberoi said.

The Police Headquarters in Delhi also houses some PWD offices.

Lal's family and colleagues said he was under a lot of stress because of pressure of office work. He had stopped taking food and talking to his family in the last couple of days, Oberoi said.

On Tuesday, Lal reached office late in the evening looking quite distressed, a PWD employee told the police. He asked his staff to leave and said he would be staying late.

No suicide note has been found, Oberoi said.
