Doubts were raised about Jemima being able to bridge the gulf in the lifestyles of London's glitzy party crowd and conservative Lahore.

Back home, she moved along with the likes of Diana, Princess of Wales. At Jemima's invitation, Diana visited the cancer hospital run by Imran in Lahore three months before she died in an underpass in Paris.

Jeimima immersed herself in Pakistani culture winning grudging respect in her husband's country. In 1997, she campaigned for Imran among Pakistani women, speaking halting Urdu.
