I am from Shillong in Meghalaya. I was invited by the government to participate in the parade. I won the bravery award because I fought with some robbers who came to loot my house.

They injured my parents but I fought with them for one hour. I had a sickle in my hand. That was enough. I rode on an elephant during the parade. I use to see this on television but I actually got to do it. I was very excited about it. I was waiting for this day since the award was announced.

This is my first visit to Delhi. We saw the Red Fort and Qutab Minar. They will also take us to the Taj Mahal. I have made lots of friends. All the children who got the award are my friends.

As told to Ehtasham Khan
