Tamil National Movement leader P Nedumaran was on Wednesday acquitted by a local court in a case filed against him for allegedly making pro-Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam remarks during a public meeting at Poolathur in the district in 1998.
Acquitting Nedumaran, the Additional District and Sessions Judge Anandhi observed that the prosecution failed to establish the charges against Nedumaran. He was present at the court when the judgment was delivered.
The supporters of Nedumaran who had gathered outside the court celebrated the acquittal by bursting crackers and shouting slogans.
Nedumaran was released on bail in a POTA case on December 18 and on January six last, the Madras high court also granted him bail in a case pertaining to printing and publishing a book in favour of the LTTE in 1993.
