Rebel Samata Party leader, Raghunath Jha, on Tuesday joined the Laloo Prasad Yadav-led Rashtriya Janata Dal.
Jha arrived at the RJD headquarters in Patna in a procession and joined the party in Yadav's presence.
State RJD chief Abdul Bari Siddiqui and several ministers and legislators were present to welcome Jha.
Welcoming Jha, a member of Parliament from Gopalganj seat in the dissolved Lok Sabha, Yadav said: "It is like a bride returning to her parents' home after being continuously harassed at the in-laws' home."
He said Jha would boost the party's prospects in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
The RJD chief said the Bharatiya Janata Party has made a habit of betraying their NDA allies and Jha fortunately understood their style and returned home.
Criticising Samata Party chief Nitish Kumar for his 'autocratic style' of functioning, Jha, who was made Samata's Bihar unit chief when he quit the RJD in 1999, said his differences with Kumar increased after he highlighted alleged corruption in the railway ministry.
