'We chatted almost for 24 hours'

Brad Listermann, 35
American
Married to Bollywood actress Kashmira Shah

Kashmira and I met on the Internet. First, it was in the teasing sort of way; we were not serious at all. Then, we started sending e-mails and became messenger buddies.

She told me she acted in films at the very beginning. I was impressed with her but did not think a long distance relationship was feasible.

One day, we started chatting on MSN and hit it off very well. It was the first time we really 'talked' to each other and we just couldn't stop. We chatted almost for 24 hours!

At that time, we were each seeing someone else but we couldn't stop thinking about each other. We realised something was

happening so we broke off with the people we were seeing. A month after that marathon conversation, we met in Seattle.

This was two-and-a-half years ago. It was a magical meeting. Twenty-four hours later, I was proposing to her by the side of the road. It was such a romantic adventure. We were driving. I stopped the car and told her we could take any one of the two roads before us -- one led to California and the other to Las Vegas.

Kashmira thought for a while. Then she took a deep breath and said "Vegas." We went to Vegas and got married. We were remarried with Hindu-Christian rituals at the Pallazo on August 30, 2001.

At that time, I had a successful business in California. Kashmira's career was just taking off after her role in Jungle. But she chose marriage over her career and came to live with me in California for six months. She tried to get some work in Hollywood, but it is difficult for Indian actors. So I took the leap to film finance in India.

We are producing a film, My Bollywood Bride. It is not based on my experiences but it has some touches from my perspective.

I live in India for eight months and spend the rest of the year in California. I find India absolutely fascinating. I hope to spend more and more time here because of the production company.

We may be travelling to the US on Valentine's Day, but if we aren't I may surprise Kashmira with a quick holiday or something on those lines.
