PMT paper leak: CBSE employee held

Cracking the CBSE pre-medical question paper leakage case by unearthing the source, the Delhi police on Friday nabbed a Board staffer posted in the Controller of Examination's office and a famous coaching centre's manager while detecting involvement of five more people in the racket.

The Crime Branch arrested nabbed Hemant Sharma, Computer Operator in the 'confidential section' of the office of CBSE Examination Controller Pavnesh Kumar and N K Thaploo, administrative manager of Sachdeva New PT College, following disclosures by the main accused nabbed last week, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) B K Gupta told mediapersons in Delhi.

Gupta said Sharma had struck a deal with racket's suspected kingpin Ranjeet Verma for providing question papers of Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology for Rs 50lakh, besides a deal worth Rs 12lakh with Sachdeva College owner Sudhir Sachdeva and Thaploo and another worth Rs 50lakh with two unidentified persons.

Sachdeva is absconding and a hunt is on to nab him.

Police is also looking out for the two other persons to whom Sharma had also given the question papers, besides two persons who solved the question papers and one Shravan, a security guard with the CBSE.

Sharma was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Shahabuddin who remanded him to seven days' police custody.
