Movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger's date with political destiny seems to be on schedule with a court ruling that California's recall vote will go ahead as scheduled on October 7, CNN has reported.

The American Civil Liberties Union had moved the court citing a problem with the voting machines.

However, there is some bad news for the Terminator star, a Republican candidate, as a poll released on Sunday by the Public Policy Institute of California showed support for the recall slipping, although 53 percent of likely voters said they still support recalling Governor Gray Davis, a Democrat.
