In continuing spree of suicides by security personnel, an NSG commando and a BSF jawan ended their lives by shooting themselves with their service weapons since Thursday evening.
Dharmendra Rawat (26) was on duty from 4 am to 6 am at the NSG camp near Palam in Delhi. He is believed to have committed suicide around 5.50 am of Friday.
"I am inclined to rule out professional stress as the reason. Many a times people have their individual problems not known to everyone," NSG Director General R S Mooshahary told PTI. "The 26-year-old Rawat got married few months back, so there is every possibility that he might have personal reasons."
When asked if duty hours or lack of leave could be behind the incident, Mooshahary said, "How can it be? An NSG commando is entitled for 90 days annual leave, out of which this boy availed 75 days leave and he was only expected to do two hours of duty in a day."
BSF jawan Jai Singh, a resident of Haryana, ended his life by shooting himself with his rifle near Gadra Road in Rajasthan's Barmer district, police said.
No suicide note was, however, found near the scene, they said adding he was found dead by another jawan who was to replace him on duty.
On Thursday, a 40-year-old Central Industrial Security Force constable posted at the Varanasi airport committed suicide while on duty apparently due to some family problem. One CISF jawan lost his life on Wednesday in Delhi.
