Three suspected Students Islamic Movement of India activists were arrested on Tuesday night in Padgah village of Thane district leading to the recovery of a huge cache of arms and ammunition, police sources in Mumbai said on Wednesday.

The activists, who were not identified, had a hand in the March 13 bomb blast in Mulund in Mumbai, the sources said. Among the seized weapons were a number of AK-47 rifles, revolvers and 200 hand grenades.

The police got to know about the arms dump while interrogating prime accused Saquib Nachan, who hails from Padgah village. Nachan, according to the police, was also involved in planning the Ghatkopar bomb blast, the sources added.

Nine people have so far been arrested in the Mulund blast case.
