Even as life limped back to normalcy in Mumbai after Thursday's powerful blast in a local train, the toll rose to 12 with two more succumbing to their injuries in a hospital in suburban Mulund.
The blast occured in the ladies' first-class compartment of a Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus-Karjat local as it entered platform three at the Mulund railway station.
Of the 11 victims, four were women, two of them police constables. Over 65 people were injured in the mishap. Twenty-eight people have been discharged so far from various hospitals.
This is the fourth blast in the city in the past three months.
Police have stepped up security all over the city.
"The trains are running on time and people are going to work as on any other day," said a railway police official. However, trains were less crowded because of a Muharram holiday.
More than 6 million people travel by local trains in Mumbai everyday.
So far no organisation has claimed responsibility for the blast.
