A retired colonel was on Thursday arrested on charges of raping a minor girl in south Delhi.

S K Parthi, 59, who lived alone in the Vasant Kunj area, was arrested after the 17-year-old married girl complained that he had raped her inside his house at around 1330 IST, police said.

Both were sent for medical examination, the police said.

Relating the circumstances leading to the alleged incident, police said the victim's mother-in-law works as a domestic help in the area.

On Thursday afternoon, the victim went to the B-Block looking for her. Not sure where she would be, the girl reached the flat of the accused, who asked her to clean the utensils in his house.

As she started doing that, Parthi, allegedly in an inebriated state, bolted the door and raped her, police said citing the victim's complaint.

Someone outside, apparently, heard her cries and called the police who forced the accused to open the door.

Parthi's wife is a teacher in Ambala (Haryana). His son is a lieutenant in the army and daughter is married.
