The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday said it will be projecting both Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani as its mascots.
"We will be projecting Vajpayee as Vikas Purush, the leader who brought development to the nation and Advani as Lauh Purush, the Iron Man. It (campaign focus) will be a combination of both," party president Venkaiah Naidu said.
Both the leaders, Naidu said, will put across the party's 'viewpoint' on Hindutva and other issues such as conversion and population control. He said the BJP will start a mass contact programme ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Top party leaders, he said, will also be holding a 'brainstorming session' later this month to finalise the strategy for the assembly elections scheduled later this year.
In the last general elections, BJP had focused solely on Vajpayee with the slogan 'tried, tested and proven'.
