Four persons were killed and six injured when police opened fire in Kodarma district of Jharkhand on Wednesday evening.
The victims were supporters of the Marxist Coordination Committee and they were trying to torch a police station in Kodarma, an official at the Jharkhand police headquarters in Ranchi told rediff.com
MCC leaders said they were protesting before the police station in connection with some local demands.
Soon after the incident, a large number of MCC supporters gathered and said the dead bodies would not be moved till Chief Minister Babu Lal Marandi and senior officials arrived at the spot.
The situation was tense and a large number of police forces had been deployed.
