In a major seizure, the Gujarat police on Tuesday recovered a highly sophisticated rocket launcher and 13 rocket launcher shells from a house in the coastal town of Bhavnagar.
Acting on specific information, police raided the house of one Arif, in a communally sensitive pocket, and recovered the rocket launcher, Deputy Superintendent of Police [Bhavnagar district] A S Gehlot said.
"The weapon seized is of a rare type and if used they could have caused severe damage in a crowded area," he said.
Arif has been booked under the Arms Act and other sections of the Indian Penal Code and police is investigating the matter, Gehlot said adding the area is peaceful.
