Former Maharashtra director general of police Subhash Malhotra was on Friday questioned by the Special Investigation Team for the second day in succession in connection with the fake stamp paper scam.

Malhotra is the topmost former police officer to come under the SIT's scanner. He arrived at the SIT's Worli office in Mumbai at 11 am and was questioned by SIT chief S S Puri.

The SIT had also questioned him on Thursday for more than seven hours for allegedly keeping quiet on former Mumbai police commissioner R S Sharma's reported negligence in conducting the probe into the scam.

The then SIT chief Subodh Jaiswal had forwarded his report to Malhotra on the alleged lapses in the probe. After studying it, Malhotra gave a clean chit to Sharma but suggested action against other cops.
