Tell us your dreams for India

August 19, 2003

'I want an India with no religious clashes'

I am a pujari (priest) in the famous 11th century Lingaraja temple in Bhubaneswar, Orissa. I have been doing this for the past 14 years and live one kilometre from the temple.

I want to see India as a great country in all aspects. It should become the most developed country on the map where there is no hunger and people do not clash on religion or caste.

India's most crucial problems are poverty, increasing population and corruption. These problems require the complete attention of politicians who are busy dividing people on the basis of caste and religion.

My personal desire is to worship god throughout my life. Unemployment and poverty has become so deep rooted that I hope to maintain my family by doing some other job as optional work.
