Three Abu Salem associates
arrested in Delhi

The Delhi police have arrested three associates of underworld don Abu Salem who allegedly came to Delhi to harm a businessman for his refusal to pay extortion money.

Sadiq and Ishtiaq, both from Azamgarh district, and C P Rai, from Mau district in Uttar Pradesh, were arrested on Thursday evening from a south Delhi area, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Ashok Chand told PTI.

A pistol, a revolver and a Mauser with several rounds of ammunition were recovered from them, Chand said.

During interrogation, Sadiq, Ishtiaq and Rai reportedly disclosed they had plans to extort money from another businessman too, Chand said.

All the three accused were later produced before a metropolitan magistrate at the Tis Hazari courts and remanded to police custody till October 4.
