US, Britain, Pakistan condemn attack on Akshardham

The United States, Britain, and Pakistan have condemned Tuesday's terrorist attack on the Swaminarayan temple in Gandhinagar.

"President Bush condemns all terrorist attacks. This was a particularly deadly attack and the president condemns it," White House spokesman Ari Fleischer told reporters in Washington.

Britain said religion could never be an excuse or justification for violence. "I am horrified by this attack on innocent civilians. I strongly condemn all acts of terrorism," Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said.

Pakistan foreign office spokesman Aziz Ahmed Khan said, "We condemn the attack and the death of innocent civilians."
