Forty commandos of the National Security Guard (NSG), led by Brigader Raj Seetapathi, have left by a special aircraft for Gandhinagar where terrorists have stormed the famous Akshardham temple, sources said in Delhi on Tuesday.

The commandos are specially trained to deal with such situations.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who is in Maldives on an official visit, spoke to Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and enquired about the terrorist attack in the Gujarat capital.

Vajpayee is keeping a close watch on the situation and is being kept posted about the developments by Advani, official sources said.
