Case filed against Gujarat CM
Narendra Modi in Patna court

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

A case has been filed in a Patna court against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party president Venkaiah Naidu in connection with certain remarks made by Modi against Muslims.

Naim Akhtar of Patna has accused Modi of 'mocking Muslims' on September 9 while addressing a gathering at Bahucharaji in Mehsana district of Gujarat during the Gaurav Yatra.

Modi has been quoted as telling the audience that 'the Muslim philosophy is: We five, ours 25' and that relief camps, sheltering riot victims, are being used as 'breeding grounds to produce children'.

In his petition, Akhtar said that Modi's statements encourage hatred between different communities, particularly Hindus and Muslims.

Though Modi has denied making any such remarks against Muslims during his Gaurav Yatra, he was exposed by the state intelligence bureau, which recorded his speech and leaked its contents to a private television news channel.
