Gaurav Yatra undertaken with eye
on Gujarat polls: BJP

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

Bharatiya Janata Party president M Venkaiah Naidu said on Monday that the much-publicised Gaurav Yatra was part of the party's political campaign in view of the forthcoming assembly election in Gujarat.

"It is a political campaign of the party in Gujarat. We are not going to postpone or stop it as demanded by political rivals," Naidu said in Patna, Bihar.

He denied allegations that the yatra had led to communal tension in some parts of Gujarat. "There are no such reports. It is all propaganda by our political rivals to defame us," he said.

He said the yatra was attracting a large number of people, which indicated its popularity.
