R K Sharma denies making any confession

Suspended Indian Police Service officer and prime accused in the Shivani Bhatnagar murder case, R K Sharma, on Thursday rejected the claims of the Delhi police that he had confessed to the crime.

Talking to reporters and family members who had gathered around him at the Karkardooma court in New Delhi, he answered in the negative when asked if he had signed any disclosure statement before the police.

According to the 'disclosure' statement, which forms part of the charge sheet submitted by the police, Sharma said he had arranged to eliminate Shivani as he thought she would malign him after the birth of her child.

Sharma also denied having given sensitive document to Shivani, as alleged in the charge sheet. "Do you think I am a fool? I wouldn't pass them even to my wife," he said.

Sharma was produced in court along with five other co-accused to receive copies of the charge sheet.
