Salman urges for return of Land Cruiser

Actor Salman Khan, charged with killing one person and injuring four in a hit-and-run case, was on Thursday exempted from appearance by a Mumbai court even as he urged for return of his Toyota Land Cruiser, which was involved in the mishap.

Salman's lawyer H S Anand filed an application urging for the return of the vehicle under Section 457 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Magistrate S Y Sishode adjourned till November 16 his plea.

Police objected to the return of the vehicle saying it was not registered in the name of Salman, but belonged to one Mohammed Abdul Rehman.

The lawyer urged that the actor had purchased the vehicle from Rehman, but it was not transferred in his name. He also told the magistrate that the first owner of the vehicle might appear before the court on the next occasion.
