Agitation by Paswan's party disrupts train services in Bihar

Anand Mohan sahay in Patna

The Lok Jan Shakti sponsored rail roko abhiyaan disrupted train services in Bihar on Thursday.

The abhiyaan, headed by former minister Ram Vilas Paswan, was to protest against the central government's decision to close Barauni and Sindri fertiliser companies.

The LJP workers blocked the railway tracks at Gaya, Dhanbad, Patna and several other railway stations.

This resulted in the cancellation of several long distance express trains and delay of others, sources in East Central Railway headquarters at Hajipur near Patna said.

LJP workers also damaged railway properties at several places. Over a hundred of them have been arrested, the police said.
