IT sleuths seize fireworks worth
Rs 2.5 crore in Patna

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

Income Tax officials seized fireworks worth Rs 2.5 crore from raids conducted on business and residential premises of four wholesale firecracker dealers in Patna in Bihar on the eve of Diwali.

IT officials also seized Rs 700,000 in cash, besides documents and papers of seven bank accounts of the dealers.

The sleuths also sealed the godowns and bank accounts of the wholesalers.

The raids, conducted in the Khajeklan and Machharhatta areas, followed information that some businessmen were hoarding firecrackers without filing income tax returns properly.
