13 bus passengers abducted in Bihar rescued

Thirteen bus passengers, abducted in West Champaran district of Bihar on Tuesday, were rescued by a crack team of the state police after a brief encounter with the abductors.

A senior police officer said some of the abductors were injured in the encounter but they all managed to escape.

DIG, Champaran district, C R Kaswan, said a group of armed men forced a private bus to a stop at a secluded spot near Chamania More and took its driver and 12 passengers, including four state irrigation department engineers, hostages.

However, the police moved swiftly and confronted the abductors at Bhreiari and managed to rescue all hostages.

The bus, owned by Luv-Kush Travels, was on its way to Bagha from Balmikinagar.

The abducted engineers, who were posted at Balmikinagar barrage on the Gandak river, were identified as Kapil Narayan, Awadhesh Kumar Mandal, Dhirendra Kumar and Mohan Lal.
