Tainted IAS officer in Bihar allowed to join home cadre

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

The Bihar government on Tuesday relieved Indian Administrative Service officer S M Raju, who is holding charge as additional secretary (home), to join his home cadre, Karnataka.

The move has come as a surprise since Raju was facing charges of misappropriation of government funds in a criminal case lodged by the vigilance department.

According to sources in the vigilance department, Raju allegedly embezzled funds meant for the construction of the Gaya district board building. Raju was posted as the Gaya District Development Commissioner at that time.
