CBI busts gang printing forged letterheads of Vajpayee

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

A Central Bureau of Investigation team has busted a gang engaged in printing forged letterheads of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and other Union ministers in Munger district, Bihar.

The team has arrested four people in this connection, including the owner of an offset printing press.

CBI sources said the gang was sending recommendation letters on the fake letterheads to central government offices for securing jobs, effecting transfers and other 'official work' for years.

CBI got involved in the case after the police had arrested a youth from Kantpur village, Bihar in Delhi for possessing a forged recommendation letter.

The trail finally led to the offset printing press in Munger.

Police sources said the owner of printing press had admitted to printing forged letterheads for more than a year now.
